Sao Paulo recently hosted the world’s largest-ever gathering of Cochlear Family members!
Brazil’s second annual Cochlear Day on Saturday 11th February brought over 2,000 people to Sao Paulo. Celebration was top of the agenda as Cochlear Family members converged on Sao Paulo’s Parque Ibirapuera – Brazil’s equivalent to Central Park. Cochlear recipients, surgeons, audiologists, volunteers, candidates, staff and even Kaci the Koala were all there!
People came from far and wide – some even traveling 13 hours by overnight bus! With everyone wearing yellow, this free event created a spectacle of joy in the park. For many people, connecting with other Cochlear Family members was a key reason for attending. Participants were treated to a day of entertainment, with music, dancing, face painting and photo opportunities with Kaci! A highlight was Cochlear’s Chief Scientist, Jim Patrick, sharing the story of his role in the development of the Cochlear implant.
The day marked the Brazil launch of the Kanso® Sound Processor. Recipients and candidates had the opportunity to see, feel and try the latest Cochlear innovation. There were also demonstration stalls featuring the Baha® 5 Portfolio, Nucleus® 6, Cochlear™ True Wireless™, Care and Maintenance and Cochlear Family. As well as getting up close and personal with Cochlear products, attendees had the opportunity to speak with key members of the Cochlear team, from Latin America and Australia.
Over 200 surgeons and audiologists were there, also dressed in their Cochlear yellow T-shirts. These professionals were able to connect with past patients, as well as answer questions from new candidates.
This event showcased our community at its best, as all members of the Cochlear Family could connect and share special experiences.
The sea of yellow joined in celebration is a welcome reminder of the unique bond shared by Cochlear Family members from Sao Paulo to Stuttgart – we are all united by sound.
