Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, with SmartSound® iQ, your Kanso® Sound Processor is designed to adapt automatically and give you the best hearing. Even so, you may find yourself in some tricky situations. The good news is that you can give Kanso a helping hand and make every day an easy listening day, no matter what life throws at you.
When background noise is distracting, such as in a restaurant or café, you can rely on Kanso’s two microphones to help you hear people speaking from any direction without being confused by nearby voices and sounds. Sometimes, though, just like your friends with normal hearing, you’ll be tempted to ask the annoying group at the next table to tone down their raucous conversation. More discreetly, you can whip out your Cochlear™ Wireless Mini Microphone 2 or 2+. Worn by your companion, it will stream their voice directly to your Kanso; or you can place it in the centre of your table to enhance the voices of several friends above the background noise (this tip works well in many work and school situations as well).
So, you’ve got a night out planned (lucky you, you deserve it!). You have decided to catch that movie that everyone is talking about, but the last thing you need is to strain to hear the dialogue, so here’s how to make it an all-round relaxing experience. Most cinemas, theatres… have a loop system so, while your friend nips off buy the popcorn, you can activate the telecoil setting on your Kanso. Just press the control button on your Kanso for two seconds, then release. That’s it!
Kanso is so discreet that people you work with or meet in daily life may not know you are wearing it. And most people don’t know how to make hearing easier for someone with hearing loss, but they’ll appreciate you telling them. Suggest people face you directly when they’re talking. In a group, ask everyone to speak one at a time and not talk over each other. Request the seat that places you away from background noise (or ask for background music to be turned down). And never be self-conscious about asking people to repeat what they said – people without hearing loss do it all the time!
How frustrating when you get delayed in traffic or with a train signal failure. You’ll want to let people know and making a quick phone call is easy with Kanso because the telecoil automatically activates when you put the phone to your ear. For even clearer hearing the Cochlear Wireless Phone Clip will stream sound directly to your Kanso. Why not leave it connected and listen to some relaxing music or a podcast on your phone while you wait?
Although your Kanso is pre-set for your requirements, there may be times when you want to adjust the volume or sensitivity and the tiny Remote Control CR210 is perfect for that. If you want more control to check your coil, battery status or to solve simple issues, check out the Remote Assistant CR230.
There’s more information on all these functions in your user manual. Or you can learn how to pair your Kanso with different devices in our helpful online videos.
