Caring for your Baha® 6 Max Sound Processor

Easy, routine maintenance keeps your device working at its best

There are simple things you can do every day to look after yourself – and your technology is no different. These tips are based on questions we are routinely asked about caring for the Baha® 6 Max.

How should I store my Baha® 6 Max?

When you’re not using your sound processor, turn it off and store it in a place free of dust and dirt, like the dedicated storage case or dry aid kit provided by Cochlear™.

Open the battery door each night, and remove the battery if you won’t be using your sound processor for a while.

What’s the best way to clean my sound processor?

Regularly wipe your processor with a soft, clean cloth to remove sweat or dirt, especially after exercise. For the best results, use the cleaning kit and the instructions you received with your sound processor.

Cleaning supplies are available from your Audiologist.

My sound processor got wet. What should I do?

If it gets wet or is exposed to humidity, dry your sound processor with a soft cloth and remove the battery. Use your dry aid kit or storage case to dry out your sound processor completely before inserting a new battery.

You can find storage cases and dehumidifiers, including drying capsules and desiccant, compatible with your sound processor from your Audiologist.

Should I clean the abutment?

If you have the Baha® Connect System, skin debris and other dirt can get in your abutment and affect sound quality. Be sure to clean it regularly using an alcohol free wet wipe or lukewarm water and mild soap.

Some other helpful tips

  • Remove your sound processor before applying anything around your head or hair, such as hair products, insect repellent or similar products.
  • When you are being very active, use the safety line to keep your sound processor secure.
  • Double check your sound processor is turned on by using the battery door to power your sound processor off and on again. To turn it off, gently open the battery door until you feel the first “click.” Turn it on again by closing the battery door completely.

We are always here to help you get the best performance from your sound processor. If you still have questions, just reach out and we’ll help you as quickly as possible. For any urgent concerns, contact your hearing health professional.
