Celebrating an engineering pioneer

Further global recognition for Professor Graeme Clark

Cochlear has celebrated another extraordinary milestone in engineering and hearing health this year.

Professor Graeme Clark AC – the pioneering Australian surgeon‑scientist behind the multichannel cochlear implant – has been awarded the 2026 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.

This year’s prize focuses on engineering innovations that help restore brain function. Professor Clark visited London in February to receive the award in person. He also stopped by the UK office to meet the team.

Graeme’s vision has helped transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world. Today, more than 750,000 people in over 180 countries hear with one – or two – of Cochlear’s implantable hearing solutions.

We are sure you join us in congratulating Professor Clark and the eight other QE Prize laureates, whose innovations continue to push the boundaries of neural engineering.
