Make the most of your clinic visits!

How the Nucleus® Smart App can help you keep your sound processor running smoothly

The Cochlear™ Nucleus® 7 and Kanso® 2 sound processors, now offer Remote Firmware Updates. This means that you’ll be able to perform some of the firmware upgrades yourself, instead of doing it during your clinic visits.

What this means for you…

What are Remote Firmware Updates?

Many devices we use today, like smartphones, home printers or TVs, require firmware updates. You have probably seen notices pop up on your smartphone prompting you to perform these updates. These affect your device’s firmware, which keeps it secure and operating at its best. The updates also unlock new capabilities as they become available.

Similarly, your external sound processor(s) use firmware to keep them running smoothly and ensure they are compatible with other devices, like smartphones. Previously, these firmware updates were performed by your hearing health professional. Now, you can do some of these quickly and simply yourself with the Nucleus Smart App.

What sound processors offer Remote Firmware Updates?

If you use a Kanso 2 Sound Processor, you can use Remote Firmware Updates immediately. If you use a Nucleus 7 Sound Processor, you’ll need to see your hearing health professional initially to update your device to the latest release. After that, you’ll be ready to receive Remote Firmware Updates.

What are the advantages of Remote Firmware Updates?

You can download the latest version of your sound processor firmware as soon as its available through the Nucleus Smart App. Just like using a smartphone, the Smart App will notify you when an update is available and give you the option to accept it.
