The Cochlear™ Nucleus® 7 Sound Processor in combination with an amazing new feature in our Nucleus® Smart App allows recipients to check their hearing health from the comfort of their own home.
Remote Check is a convenient, at-home testing tool that allows patients with a Cochlear Nucleus 7 Sound Processor to complete a series of hearing checks on their compatible device. Results are sent via the Smart App directly to their clinic to be reviewed by their audiologist. They can then communicate back to the recipient through the app to help with any questions or concerns they may have.
Physiotherapist and triathlete, Katie R lives with her husband and two children in a quiet coastal village near Edinburgh. Here she tells us a bit about her hearing journey and her experience of using the Remote Check feature, newly introduced in the UK last year.
“I was born hearing but developed an inner ear problem and was diagnosed as having a severe/profound neurosensory hearing impairment. From the age of 2 my hearing deteriorated significantly. I had hearing aids from the age of 4 and for a long time they were great. However, in my thirties my hearing deteriorated, and I now have the Nucleus® 7 sound processor after receiving my implant last year.”
Watch Katie describe her experience of using the Remote Check service in this video.
“I did it all in the comfort of my home. It was so convenient; I could do it of an evening when the kids were in bed. It took away some of the stress of having to travel to the hospital which, for me, is a 2-hour journey”
