At busy times of the year, we’re all looking for quick and easy ways to save time – maybe we leave the house cleaning a day or two longer than usual, or we jump in the car when we know we should walk. When we’re short on time, it’s all too easy to slip out of our routine. With your CI system, a small effort makes a big difference in your hearing performance. Here’s a quick reminder of our recommended maintenance routine for Nucleus Sound Processors.
Use your Dry & Store unit every night. When the weather is damp and cold, moisture is more likely to build up in your sound processor, so it’s even more important than usual to store your sound processor correctly overnight.
Every two months
After a while, the Dry-Briks become less effective so it’s important to change them at least every two months.
Every three months
If the microphone protectors become ineffective, you will notice a reduced quality of your hearing, but it’s not always easy to notice if the change is gradual. Check your microphone protectors regularly and change them at least every three months.
It’s useful to have extra back-up equipment on hand in case you need it. Don’t wait until you need something before you order it – especially things that you will need regularly like microphone protectors or zinc air batteries.
If you notice…
Some aspects of good maintenance rely on you taking prompt action when you notice the earliest signs that something needs attention.
If your battery life seems shorter than normal, maybe it’s time to change your battery cover.
If you have a broken coil or cable, don’t put off replacing it.
