Keeping track

Data logging and hearing trackers – do you know the difference?

When it comes to keeping track of your hearing, the Cochlear Nucleus sound processor does a lot of work behind the scenes. We’ve answered some questions from our recipients to help you better understand the difference between data logging and the hearing tracker.

Do I need to keep my iPhone connected to the sound processor all day to ensure data logging?

Data logging is a function within the sound processor that keeps track of the different listening environments you have been in.

This data is accessed by the professionals at your clinic using specialist software, for information that helps them advise you and make the best adjustments to your settings.  Data logging happens automatically and doesn’t require a smartphone connection.

My child goes to school/nursery – how accurate is the hearing tracker data when my phone isn’t connected to the sound processors all day?

The hearing tracker is a function of the Nucleus 7 sound processor, accessed via the Nucleus Smart App. It allows you to track how many hours per day you or your child has been in a speech environment.

The hearing tracker can be especially reassuring for parents who are not with their child for the whole day.

Data for the hearing tracker is first stored in the sound processor and is still being tracked even when your phone is turned off, out of range, or disconnected from the sound processor. The data is transferred to the Nucleus Smart App when the phone is reconnected.

Information in the hearing tracker is shown in hours and days, so we recommend you connect the sound processor to the iPhone at least twice a day; that way the hearing tracker can accurately separate data by days of the week.
